New Home Ideas - Bedroom

Having already covered my hopes and plans for our new living room and the kitchen and dining room, I've been putting off describing my ideas for our bedroom.

I always love the look of the bedrooms you see in interiors magazines but for me, they don't seem realistic. Maybe it's just me, but the bedroom always seems to be in a right tip. I drag myself out of bed in the mornings, spend most of the day clearing the rest of the house, doing Mummy-things and working and then fall back into bed, exhausted, at the end of the day. Tidying up my room always seems to be the lowest priority, even if we have guests I just throw stuff in and shut the door.

So when it came to choosing the 'master' bedroom in our new home, I gave the biggest to Lily and took the next size down for Matt and myself. It didn't make sense to keep all the space for us when we wouldn't use it, but Lily and Ollie could make the most out of all that room for toys and books.

But that doesn't mean that I don't want to have a nice bedroom now. Our old bed was rubbish and wouldn't stand up to another move without some DIY (which I'm not very good at) so we got rid of it. Now we're starting from scratch and I'm quite excited.

The only thing I really know for sure is that I want it to be blue. Maybe not the walls as we're in a rental property so don't want to make any drastic changes, but definitely in the decor and styling. I also like the idea of silver accessories, especially as we have some already and I don't want to throw them out!

My favourite brands for bedroom inspiration are Monsoon, Oliver Bonas and Bombay Duck - I love the range of accessories you can get. We don't have a huge budget for furniture but I'm on the hunt for a nice, reasonably priced bed and am thinking of customising the Malm range chest of drawers with some unique drawer knobs like the one below from Bombay Duck. We definitely need a lot of storage space.

The good thing is that we'll need to get cracking with the bedroom quickly. I can't see us being able to sleep on a mattress on the floor for much longer and I can't unpack our clothes without somewhere to put them! I'm planning an IKEA trip for this weekend, wish me luck!

I would love a bedroom with the big curtain like that. Luxurious! Looks like your room decorating ideas are coming together. Can't wait to see the real thing when they are finish. :) Thank you for linking up with me again. #FabFriday Post

I love your choices! Our bedroom is blue. Walls and accessories. Mixed with black, white, grey and silver. It's very cozy and calming, which I need! LOL My office is in a corner of our Master Bedroom so the calming effect of the blue helps me to focus and not get too frustrated! Good luck, your choices are gorgeous, I want them for our home too!

Isn't it lovely? My husband isn't keen but I'm still thinking about it. We're having some furniture delivered this week, so might share an update over the weekend.x

Oooo, your room sounds lovely! I have the PC downstairs, I don't think I'd sleep if it were in my bedroom! x
